Partnership

The 'Nansha IT Park' project is a collaboration between the Guangzhou Government, the Fok Ying Tung Foundation and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). This Partnership brings together a wealth of organizational capabilities and a strong commitment to advancements in technology and knowledge in the Pearl River Delta, bringing forth the realization of a vision-the Pearl River Delta, a world class technology metropolis of the 21st century.

Guangzhou Government - It implements policies to ensure and cultivate a positive business climate in Nansha. It strongly supports the Nansha IT Park and expects it to play a key, pivotal role in the development of the Pearl River Delta area into a knowledge-based economy.

"(We) have designated Nansha to be Guangzhou new city Center. When fully developed, it will be the center of Guangzhou economic and commercial activities; and Guangzhou will have advanced from being a 'river city' to a 'sea port city'. (We) recognize that the development of Nansha and greater Nansha is vital to Guangzhou's overall development, both economically and socially. The development of Nansha will be accelerated over the next five years."

"My idea is to develop Nansha as a high-tech city to collaborate with Hong Kong. This will bring economic prosperity to the Pearl River Delta."

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) - as a leading education and research institution, HKUST's role is to contribute to the economic and social development of the nation. A base in Nansha will allow the University to make further contributions, at the same time pursue its mission in education and research.

"Our intention is to develop Nansha IT Park into a bastion of technology to support:

  • nurture new start-ups in high-tech fields
  • expand opportunities for HK companies
