Nansha sits at the mouth of the Pearl River and is also at the geometric center of the Pearl River Delta (PRD), one of China's fastest growing regions, even till today. This unique position means Nansha is conveniently accessible by land, by sea and even by air.

By road, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and many cities in the PRD are barely an hour’s drive away; and by sea Nansha is little more than an hour’s ferry ride from Hong Kong. It is no wonder that Nansha is also a transportation hub for those from Hong Kong and Macau going to various cities, large and small, in the PRD. Lastly, even without an airport to call its own, Nansha is connected with more than 150 cities in the world through 5 international airports – Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Macau and Hong Kong, all within an hour’s radius from Nansha.

Since being designated the new economic center of Guangzhou in 2002, the City Government has drawn up a comprehensive master plan for the development of the area. Today, much of this plan is underway, including a subway which will connect Nansha with Downtown Guangzhou and Guangzhou Huadu Airport. The present highway is also being upgraded and two new highways are being built, to reduce travel time between Guangzhou Downtown and Nansha to a half hour. This new road system will connect with China’s already established and ever expanding network of roads that link many parts of China.
