Other Contributions in China


A) In Panyu

Since his first visit to his homeland, Panyu, Dr Fok, thought ceaselessly on ways to boost its economy. He contributed to the area in many aspects of economy, culture and society, including community programs such as building of schools, hospitals, stadiums, ports, shipyard, roads, bridges, and power stations, and setting up of foundations. He also sponsored and supported research centers, literature and arts associations, as well as various cultural, religion, and administrative activities, always exploring ways to help the society.

B) Fok Ying Tung Awards

The ˇ§Fok Ying Tung Awardsˇ¨ program, set up in 1997, aims to encourage, contributions, especially from youngsters with high potential, in the areas of culture, civilization and social development, to China, including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau, and South-east Asia.

C) Macau Fok Ying Tung Charity Foundation

In 2002, Dr. Henry Fok decided to donate all his shares (27.7%) in Sociedadede Turismoe Diversoesde Macau(STDM) to set up the Macau Fok Ying Tung Charity Foundation, under the supervision of the Macau SAR Government. It is also noteworthy, that Dr Fok contributed all the HK$3 billion profit of STDM, from 1984-2002, towards infrastructure development in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. In addition, he donated a further HK$1 billion from the Fok Ying Tung Foundation.
